There are so many stars in Hollywood that sometimes it’s hard to keep track of who is doing what. Actors and actresses appear on the big screen and disappear in the blink of an eye, leaving behind movies and various TV shows. What happens to them after they willingly or unwillingly disappear from the limelight? Some devote their time to families, while others completely change their occupation. Here are 10 Iconic Hollywood stars who totally disappeared from the big screen and what happened to them.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
This promising young actress gave us a few bright roles in movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Heartbreakers, but we haven’t heard much of her since then. In 2012, she announced that she’s taking a break from acting to be with her family, and didn’t really come back to the big screen after that.
Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen has been on the news a lot, but for the wrong reasons. One of his last shows was Anger Management and we haven’t really heard from him much since then. Various scandals and health problems make it nearly impossible for him to land big roles now. Will we ever see him on silver screen again? Who knows.
Alyson Hannigan
Oh, didn’t you just love Alyson Hannigan in the 90s? Her roles in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and American Pie were beyond lovely, as well as her performance in How I Met Your Mother. She hasn’t really done anything big since then – all her new projects are quite unpopular with the crowd.
Matthew Perry
Out of all Friends actors Matthew Perry had the biggest chances of becoming a real Hollywood superstar. While the show was on he appeared in movies alongside stars like Bruce Willis and Salma Hayek, but once it ended, everyone quickly forgot about him. Since then Matthew got just a few roles (17 Again, Go On) and we haven’t really seen him on screen after those roles.
Billy Zane
Billy Zane has one of the most recognizable faces ever due to his outstanding villainous role in Titanic and another one in Charmed. One would think that a man who got on the list of 50 Most Handsome Men would become really popular in the entertainment field, but alas, he’s never appeared in a good movie since that success in the 90s.
Cameron Diaz
This iconic romcom actress became truly popular after she starred alongside Jim Carrey in the movie The Mask. She’s done over 50 movies over the last few decades, but has stopped accepting roles since 2012. Cameron Diaz confessed she was lost and didn’t know where she was going. She seems happy now leading a calm life devoid of red carpets and movie stars. She’s also gotten into writing.
Andie MacDowell
Andie MacDowell used to be quite an iconic star back in the day. We love many of her movies, especially Groundhog Day, Crush, and Hudson Hawk. She’s been quite active in the 90s, but starting from 2005 we haven’t really seen her on big screen. Now she’s more likely to appear at an event than in a movie.
Daryl Hannah
The role in Blade Runner became the lucky ticket into the world of big cinema for Daryl Hannah. She was getting role after role, including highly successful performance in Tarantino’s Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2. After that, though, we haven’t seen her star in great movies.
Zooey Deschanel
The incredibly charming Zooey Deschanel has been a star of many movies and TV shows, including our favourite (500) Days of Summer and New Girl, one of her latest projects. That being said, she hasn’t had a big role for over 10 years now! It turns out Zooey Deshanel had two kids and decided to spend more time with her family. She’s still busy with non-acting projects and sometimes stars in commercials.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
This handsome actor has been acting since the very young age of 7 – that’s how talented he is! We know him from spectacular roles in Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and the lovely romcom (500) Days of Summer. Yet something happened in 2016 and Joseph stopped taking on roles, starring only in short films and doing voiceovers. We really hope to see him back on the big screen someday!
