Fire Island

Fire Island is located parallel to the south shore of Long Island, New York. It is a large center island of the outer barrier islands and is part of Suffolk County. In 2012, Fire Island was divided into two islands by Hurricane Sandy. Now the two islands are about 50 km long and 160-400 m wide. It includes two villages and some hamlets.
